The CEO of Exxon insists on IRA support for the hydrogen project

Exxon CEO Darren Woods emphasized that the company should be entitled to IRA incentives for their low-carbon hydrogen project. The current IRA criteria only apply to green hydrogen production, not the blue hydrogen planned by Exxon. Woods stated that they won’t proceed if they find lobbying influences regulation. The inflation reduction law provides greater support for green hydrogen production, but support for other methods is also planned. Exxon warned they couldn’t continue the Baytown facility without modifications to the federal government’s plan. According to their plans, the Baytown facility would significantly reduce emissions and could start within the next few years with incentives.
