Global banking network SWIFT is planning to launch a new platform in the next year or two that will link the wave of central bank digital currencies now under development to the existing financial system, Reuters reported.

The move, which would be one of the most significant for the nascent CBDC ecosystem given SWIFT’s key role in the global banking system, is likely to be fine-tuned to coincide with the launch of the first major ones.
