Northrop Grumman Corporation, a key player in global aerospace and defence technology, is embarking on a major project with the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to revolutionise lunar exploration and commercialisation, according to a company announcement. The company is developing a conceptual design for a lunar rail network as part of DARPA’s Lunar Architecture (LunA-10) project – an initiative to build a sustainable lunar infrastructure over the next decade.

The goal is exactly what it sounds like: to build a rail network on the Moon to transport supplies and resources, or even lunar crew.
