Canada’s economy grew in January

Gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.6% in January. Services sectors grew 0.7% in January, led by a rebound in education services following the Quebec public sector strikes in November and December. Goods-producing sectors rose 0.2% in January 2024, while utilities and manufacturing rebounded after declining the previous month. Overall, there was broad-based growth, with 18 of the 20 sectors expanding in January.
