The French services sector continued to contract in the first quarter

Activity in the French services sector continued to fall at the end of the first quarter, according to the latest data from S&P Global, although the decline in output and new orders was milder and companies’ growth expectations rose sharply. Jobs have been rising steadily for five months, while inflationary pressures continue to weigh on prices. The seasonally adjusted HCOB France Services PMI® business activity index fell slightly in March, from 48.4 to 48.3 points.
