Driving taxis in the second largest city in the USA

“Self-driving cars were once the unimaginable future, but now tens of thousands of people are using them every week,” Waymo co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana said in announcing the launch of a self-driving taxi service in Los Angeles, following Phoenix and San Francisco. In a move typical of the Alphabet subsidiary, the redesigned Jaguar I-Pace will be gradually rolled out in the second largest city in the US, initially covering an area of around 163 square kilometres, from Santa Monica through Beverly Hills and South Hollywood to downtown, with fewer than 50 self-driving cars. By comparison, Waymo already has more than 250 cars in San Francisco, covering a smaller area of about 120 square kilometres.
