UK to Begin Testing DLT Technology in Financial System This Fall

The Bank of England and the UK’s financial regulatory authority, the Financial Conduct Authority, are set to commence the first testing phase of distributed ledger technology (DLT) for trading and settlement of digital securities such as stocks and bonds this fall. The recently launched consultation on the Digital Securities Sandbox aims to facilitate the adoption of innovative technologies in the realm of digital assets. The sandbox is planned to run for five years and will contribute to the new regulatory framework for securities settlement.
