The US Securities and Exchange Commission, in a final judgment proposal filed on Monday, asked Judge Analisa Torres, who presided over the SEC v. Ripple case, to approve a nearly $2 billion fine as Ripple directly sold to institutional investors. The fine includes $876 million in disgorgement, $198 million in prejudgment interest, and a civil penalty of $876 million. The SEC urges the New York court to consider the severity of the company’s misconduct.
