Meta Orion’s glasses are another step towards mastering our big-tech future

As Zuckerberg has said before, “Metaverse is not something that a company builds. It’s the next chapter of the Internet as a whole”.
The Orion launch was impressive not only because of the technical capabilities of the glasses, but also because they looked really good – we can imagine someone wearing them with confidence.

It seems that the stock market is finally rewarding Zuckerberg’s long-term vision, after punishing him in previous years for lavish spending on wearable technology and metaverse ambitions. Today, Facebook shares are at an all-time high, Zuckerberg’s fortune has swelled to over $200 billion, augmented reality glasses are finally reaching a wide audience, and there is good reason to be optimistic about the future of technology.

Two decades ago, desktop computers and web browsers opened the doors to Web1 and the dotcom era. Smartphones and mobile apps followed, leading to Web2 and the social web.
Now, with AR/VR and digital wallets that allow easy control of our digital data and products, we are on the threshold of the Web3 era.
Wearable devices are also the gateway to the Metaverse, a new shared online reality. In addition, wearable technologies will help people with limited abilities to use technology and help them monitor and improve their health and well-being.
