According to a new U.S. regulatory announcement, Bitfinex, the sister company of the Tether stablecoin issuer, may be the only entity eligible for compensation related to the 2016 hack. During the attack, approximately 120,000 BTC were stolen from the platform. With the case now settled, Bitfinex could receive around $5.8 billion in compensation.
