Nike unveils new products, the coolable-heatable vest and shoes

The two companies have now jointly designed a shoe and a vest. Running under the Nike x Hyperice brand, the boot focuses on the foot and ankle, with two compression systems linked to cooling elements to distribute temperature evenly across the entire foot, so wearers can start warming up before the real movement begins. Sha’Carri Richardson, who ran a world record 100m flat at the World Championships in Budapest, started using the device this spring and says the boot is light enough to be comfortable to wear, so it can really be incorporated into daily training work.

According to the company, an increasing number of athletes have told Nike that they need help to keep their bodies in shape not only post-workout, but also in pre-workout situations. In order to do this, Nike turned to Hyperice, which also sponsors Erling Haaland. Hyperice has been developing technologies to optimise athletes’ performance and recovery for nearly fifteen years.

For example, the late NBA superstar Kobe Bryant was the first to try the Hyperice Knee for knee therapy, which was developed by the company.

Mark Wilson, a Fast Company journalist who has tried Nike x Hyperice products, confirmed that he had an “almost gel-like feeling” in his feet after a few minutes of wearing them. Wilson says it’s no surprise that interested athletes would be keen to wear the boots on air trips, for example.

The slightly too futuristic vest, on the other hand, helps athletes to set the ideal body temperature. It works on thermoelectricity, so without the use of ice or water; its independently adjustable parts, like the boot, can apply pressure and heat to the areas you need.

LeBron James says the vest “could change the way athletes train and recover”. According to Fast Company, as the fans on the product spin up, they turn the wearer’s torso practically ice cold, “almost in a frightening way”.
