Tornado Cash Developer Sentenced to 5 Years and 4 Months in Prison

A Dutch court has convicted the developer of Tornado Cash, 31-year-old Alexey Pertsevet, for laundering $1.2 billion worth of cryptocurrencies through the Tornado Cash mixer between July 9, 2019, and August 10, 2022. The three-judge panel sentenced Pertsevet to 64 months in prison. The platform’s co-founder, Roman Storm, faces similar charges in the United States for his role in developing the controversial software.
