Slowing growth in the euro area and EU economies in the second quarter of 2024

Seasonally adjusted GDP in both the euro area and the European Union rose by 0.2% in the second quarter of 2024 compared with the previous quarter, Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office, estimates. This represents a slower pace of growth compared with the 0.3% expansion in the first quarter of 2024.
On an annual basis, GDP grew by 0.6% in the euro area and by 0.8% in the EU in the second quarter of 2024, compared with 0.5% and 0.7% respectively in the previous quarter.
